Website visitors usually have one of two goals when they go to your site:

  1. They either want to do business with you.

  2. Or they want to learn more about you, so they can decide whether they want to do business with you

Regardless, you want to make their pathway for that goal, super quick + easy – and that’s why you need a strong CTA.

But what is a CTA?

A call-to-action (CTA) is basically just marketing speak for asking someone to take an action.

If you have a product to sell, it's not just saying "Here's a product we sell". It's being proactive + saying "Here's a product we sell, click here to learn more!". This is obvs an example for retail but some other CTAs include: booking an appointment, calling you, sending you an email or signing up for your newsletter.

What are some top tips for making an effective CTA?

Use strong, proactive language! CTA's shouldn't be passive. You're trying to drive someone through to the next stage of your customer journey (whatever that is for your business). The language used should reinforce this importance.

Make it prominent! If someone wants to do business with you – make it easy, make it obvious. Don't hide your CTA behind the fold (content that you have to scroll for on a website). Put a nice big button in your navigation bar or smack a link in the middle of your home page banner.

Give it a try – you might just see your conversions grow!

And if that seems a bit too hard basket, take a look at our Webmaster Package + let us manage it for you!

How’s that for a CTA 😉
