Warning: our content is super addictive.

With over 2.8 billion monthly active users, Facebook is undoubtedly one of the largest social media platforms today. But with its ever-changing algorithms and updates, it can be challenging to keep up with what works and what doesn't.

In contrast to our previous episodes about LinkedIn and Instagram, we realised we hadn't given Facebook the attention it deserves. With its size and constant changes, we have to admit – we were sort of putting it off. But Facebook is an essential for so many businesses and we decided to take the plunge. In this episode of Marketing + Margaritas, we go through our three biggest takeaways for making the most out of your Facebook presence.

1. HAVE A PURPOSE

Before posting anything on Facebook, make sure you have a clear purpose in mind. Understand why you are using Facebook, who your audience is, and what messages you want to get across. Whether it's recruiting new employees or showcasing your portfolio of work, having a clear purpose will help guide your content and ensure it resonates with your audience.

2. MAKE CONSISTENT QUALITY YOUR STANDARD

Consistency is key when it comes to creating a successful social media presence. Make sure your content aligns with your brand personality, including using brand-aligned visuals and copy. Create content themes and templates to make life easier (and your feed more professional looking), and schedule your posts in advance to save time and stay on track.

HINT > Listen to our episode that discusses identifying your brand values. We’ve also got this one that’s a further look at a content marketing strategy.

Also, always prioritise quality content. Collect inspiration from what stops your own scroll, and always be collecting images, text, and videos to use in your content. Create a content bank to repurpose your hard work and ensure that your brand-aligned copy and visuals are also engaging and interesting (ie is it something that you would stop and read?).

3. INCREASE YOUR REACH

To increase your reach on Facebook, make sure you are using all the tools available to you. Tag people where appropriate, include people in your photos, and utilise Facebook stories and live video. Stories are at the top of the newsfeed and reach a different audience than regular posts, while live videos are more real and easier to create. Always be thinking about what you would like to see in these formats and replicate that in your own content.

WRAP UP TIP >

Engage with your audience regularly! Engage off your own page by reacting, commenting, and sharing as your page. Check your notifications and inbox regularly and create a log of common responses to streamline your response process.

Facebook can be a powerful tool for your business, but it requires a solid strategy and ongoing attention. By following these three key takeaways, you can create a consistent and engaging presence on the platform that resonates with your audience and helps you achieve your business goals.
