The end of the year is fast approaching, and Christmas will be here before you know it! Start getting organised with your EOY marketing activities with a checklist below that you might want to implement to advise your clients and suppliers of when you will be closed.

EOY checklist for marketing:

  • Know your dates – if applicable, work out closure dates and cut off/delivery dates for client work (eg. you might not take any bookings after a certain date, so that you can plan out when you finish for the year – if you don’t do set closure dates)

  • Know your supplier dates – check with suppliers when they’ll be closing, to help with timelines for EOY and NY projects

  • Market your dates

    • Update email sig – either make a holiday one or just add a line about when you’re opening/closing

    • Socials – depending on your industry, you may want to do a post, then a reminder and have a pinned post

    • EDMs – if you do any email marketing, make sure to include dates in your comms to your database

    • Website announcement – have something easy to find on your home page for when you’ll be open and closed – (eg home page banner, breakout section, or bar)

    • Phone messages – update your message bank (including your mobile, if it’s a work one) to advise of closure times

    • Physical business – we recommend putting up a sign on the door too as people may want to walk-in and realise your business is shut

    • OOO (out of office) – for yourself and remind your team as well, if you have staff

    • Include close + open dates and times – whichever activities are relevant to your business, make sure to include not just when you’re shutting up, but when you’ll be back on board and if there are any other work cut offs that people should know about (eg hairdresser might shut 24 December – but stop taking appointments at end of November)

    • Thank you – always nice to be appreciated so whether or not you do Christmas cards/gifts for your stakeholders, it’s still nice to pop a thank you into your EOY marketing for all the support that you received that year

    • When you get back – remember to update it all back (eg change out FB cover, redo phone message, update email sig etc)

Wrap up tip > end of year can be a great trigger to review your marketing as well!

Review marketing targets + how you performed, review marketing activities + list what needs updating and/or in-depth review.

What a great time to reflect on the year that was and hopes for the new one coming up!
